President, PM greet countrymen on Eid-ul-Fitr

President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday greeted countrymen as well as the Muslims across the world on the occasion of holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

In separate messages, they prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the country and the Muslim Ummah.

President Abdul Hamid in his message extended his greetings and good wishes to the countrymen and all the people in the world on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

“Eid-ul-Fitr brings the message of happiness after the month-long fasting and practice of self-restraint. Eid is a joyous occasion for the Muslims. People living in the big cities return to their loved ones in the villages, develop bond of harmony, amity and unity among the people, irrespective of their classes and professions,” he said.

The president said the rich and the poor and the elite and the common masses become united on the holy occasion and share the happiness of Eid.

“Islam is the religion of peace and harmony. There is no place for violence and hatred in Islam. It never supports terrorism and militancy. Islam holds the spirit of human values, mutual coexistence, tolerance towards the views of others, equality and friendship,” the president said.

He hoped that the teachings of Eid-ul-Fitr would encourage all in building a beautiful and prosperous society.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in her message hoped that the practice of self-purification, restraint, amity and harmony of the Muslims in personal, social and national lives would spread everywhere.

“After the month-long self-restraint, Eid-ul-Fitr has brought the message of happiness and I would like to convey my greetings to countrymen and all the people in the world on this occasion,” she said.

The prime minister said Eid teaches peace, sense of fellow feeling and fraternity and brings message of joy to the people of all walks of life.

She prayed to Almighty Allah for continued peace, progress and welfare of the people of the country and of Muslim Ummah.

Sheikh Hasina hoped that Eid-ul-Fitr would bring message of happiness to all, irrespective of rich and poor.
