Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit today people burnt during the BNP-led opposition combine-enforced blockades in the capital.

The premier was scheduled to visit the victims at the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) at 2:30pm, sources at the Prime Minister’s Office told The Daily Star.

The burn victims include 17 people injured at Shahbagh in the capital Thursday evening, in the first phase of the opposition called 71-hour blockade.

Two people burnt in the Shahbagh arson later succumbed to their injuries at the Burn Unit.

Two more people admitted at the unit were also burnt on the first day of the second phase of opposition-sponsored countrywide blockade.

The opposition called the blockade of roads, rail and waterways for the second time in a span of a week protesting schedule for 10th parliamentary election and “false cases” against its leaders and “torture and repression” of its activists.
