The tender for constructing the main infrastructure of the long-awaited Padma bridge will be floated on June 30, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said on Wednesday.

The minister announced the date at the Bridge Division office in the capital after wrapping up a ceremony for signing a Tk 1,097 crore agreement with a Malaysian company for constructing an approach road with the bridge.

The agreement was inked between Abdul Monem Limited and Malaysian company HCM.

Shafiqul Islam, Padma bridge project director, and Abid Habib, a representative of the company, signed the agreement.

Two four-lane approach roads linking the bridge will be built at two points–Mawa and Jajira.

A toll plaza, a toll office and a police outpost will also be constructed on the approach road as per the agreement.
