Compensation for Rana Plaza victims demanded

A human chain was formed in front of the ruined Rana Plaza in Savar on the outskirts of the capital on Friday demanding due compensation for the victims of the incident.

Garments Sramik Trade Union organised the human chain programme in the morning.

The injured victims of the Rana Plaza collapse and family members of those killed and went missing in the tragedy took part in the programme.

They also brought out a procession on Dhaka-Aricha highway over the same demand and held a rally at Savar bus stand.

Speakers at the rally said many victims of the country’s worst industrial disaster are now passing their days amid sufferings as they are yet to be provided with their due compensation.

They alleged that the government is not taking any effective steps in this regard.

The speakers also demanded ensuring salary and bonuses of workers in all garment factories and an end to retrenching workers and torture on them.
