A Narayanganj court has framed charges against 35 people, including the prime accused Nur Hossain, three RAB officials in two cases filed over the sensational seven-murder.
The court also fixed February 25 to start the trial procedure.
Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge Enayet Hossain gave the order in presence of 23 accused on Monday afternoon.
Eight RAB officials and four others are on the run in the cases.
Public Prosecutor Advocate Wazed Ali Khokon said the counsels of the accused filed petitions seeking their acquittal.
However, the court rejected the petitions and indicted the 35 accused.
On April 27, 2014, Narayanganj City Corporation panel mayor Nazrul Islam and six others were abducted. Later, their bodies were recovered from Shitalaykha river on April 30. Nazrul’s wife filed an abduction case against Nur and several others on April 28.
The government later arrested the suspected RAB officials, but Nur fled to India.
On June 15, 2014, the West Bengal police arrested Nur with some of his accomplices from Kolkata. He had been in Indian custody since then.
