Over Tk 10 crore was spent for the national cricket team to participate in various local and international competitions in the last fiscal year (2012-13), State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder told Parliament on Thursday.
“A total of Tk 10,27,70,941 was spent for Bangladesh National Cricket Team to participate in Test and One-day competitions at home and abroad in fiscal 2012-13,” he said, replying to starred tabled question of Nazrul Islam Babu (Awami League-Narayanganj).
Bangladesh Cricket Board bears the expenses of the national cricket team to take part in all the national and international tournaments.
Answering another starred question of Awami League MP Kazi Nabil of Jessore-3, the junior minister said the government gave an allocation of Tk 17.50 lakh this fiscal (2013-14) to the Bangladesh Football Federation to bear the expenses of the football teams.
