Talk with an open mind’

The National Human Rights Commission Chairman had urged the the Awami league and BNP to come to talks with ‘an open mind’ to lift the country from its current political impasse.

Mizanur Rahman made the call after a meeting with Speaker Shirin Sharmin Choudhury at Parliament on Tuesday.

“An acceptable process of election must be devised in this state of political violence. There are debates on what the process will be. That’s why there must be a discussion or dialogue. A solution is possible if the dialogue is participated with an open mind,” said Mizanur Rahman.

He believes the Speaker can play a role in ‘encouraging’ a dialogue between the rival political parties.

UN Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs Oscar Fernández-Taranco held meetings with political parties to press for a speedy path to dialogue.
