The results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations were published on Thursday with a record 89.03 percent pass rate, up 2.66 percent than the previous year’s performance.
A total of 91,226 students achieved the grade point average (GPA)-5 in this year’s examinations against 82,212 last year. Among the 91,226 GPA-5 achievers, 52,392 are boys and 38,834 girls.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid announced the results at a press conference at the Secretariat in the afternoon.
Earlier, the minister handed over a copy of the results to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban around 10:15am.
A total of 11,54,778 students, out of 2,97,034, came out successful in this year’s SSC and equivalent examinations. Of them, 6,65,878 are boys and 6,31,156 girls.
The individual pass rates of all eight general education boards are — Dhaka Education Board 87.31 percent, Chittagong 88.48 percent, Comilla 90.41 percent, Jessore 92.62 percent, Sylhet 88.96 percent, Rajshahi 94.03 percent, Barisal 88.63 percent and Dinajpur 90.60 percent.
Madrasah Education Board saw an 89.13 percent pass rate while Technical Education Board 81.13 percent.
A total of 9,87,417 students appeared in the examinations under the eight general education boards and of them 8,85,891 passed the examinations with an 89.72 percent pass rate, which is 3.40 percent higher than that of the previous year.
Some 1,97,199 candidates out of 2,21,257 came out successful in the examinations under the Madrasah Education Board with an 89.13 percent pass rate while a total of 88,360 students took part in the examinations under the Technical Education Board and 71,688 passed with a success rate of 81.13 percent.
The results show that a total of 77,381 students achieved the grade GPA-5 under the eight educational boards while 9,673 candidates got GPA-5 under the Madrasas Board and 4,172 students under the Technical Education Board.
A total of 2,75,726 students passed the examinations this year under the Dhaka Board while 108,009 under the Rajshahi Board, 116,307 under the Comilla Board, 109,559 under the Jessore Board, 76,037 under Chittagong Board, 56,348 under the Barisal Board, 52,045 under the Sylhet Board and 91,860 under the Dinajpur Board.
The results reveal that the examinees of Science Group made a tremendous success this year with a record 94.95 percent success rate. A total of 226,337 students appeared in the examinations from Science Group and 214,904 of them came out successful.
A total of 335,475 students, out of 392,109, passed the examinations from Humanities Group with an 85.56 percent pass rate while 335,512, out of 368,971, came out successful with a success rate of 90.93 percent.
A total of 1,303,203 examinees from 27,073 educational institutions under 10 education boards across the country took part in the examinations that began on February 3 and ended on March 5.AA
