A female student of the Eden College suffered an acid attack from two male friends after she turned down a marriage offer.
Police said Sharmin Akhter, 24, a final year Bangla department student, suffered severe burns on her face and right hand in the attack.
Bangshal Police Station ASI Biswajit, told bdnews24.com the attack occurred around 12:30pm in front of the Chankharpul Kazi Office (a Muslim marriage registration office).
The ASI said the girl had confided to him that her male friends , ‘Monir’ and ‘Masum’, took her in front of the Kazi office and one of them proposed marriage.
“They threw acid on her and ran away after she rejected the proposal,” he said.
Biswajit said he found Sharmin on the street in front of the Kazi office and took her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
