Selim Osman reelected to lead Bangladesh knitwear exporters’ forum

The Narayanganj-5 MP was the sole contender for the post in Saturday’s polls.

“I will keep working with everyone to increase knitwear export in global markets,” Osman told bdnews24.com in an immediate reaction.

In a media statement, the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association said AH Aslam Sunny had been elected the first vice-president, Mansur Ahmed second vice-president and Masuduzzaman third vice-president.

GM Faruk, too, was elected without contest as vice-president (finance).

Osman, who has been elected for the 2014-16 term, said the new committee would work to ensure market expansion.

They will strive for development of knit sector infrastructure, compliance and fire safety, and building up an environment-friendly industrial chain.

“The knitwear export has been increasing over the past several years despite various hurdles.

“We want to maintain the pace,” he said.
