PM orders for creating new posts

A committee would be formed if it is needed, says Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the authorities concerned for creating new posts and filling up the vacancies fast in the civil bureaucracy.

The premier made the direction in the regular cabinet meeting held at the secretariat on Monday.

“The prime minister has asked the high officials to take immediate steps for creating new posts and filling up the vacancies of different ministries and public offices considering the shortage of their manpower,” Cabinet Secretary M Musharraf Hossain Bhuiyan told reporters in a briefing after the meeting.

He said there are few stages to complete a recruitment process. It takes enough times to create new posts and recruit manpower as recommendation of Public Service Commission is a must for appointing Class I and Class II officers.

“However, the authority can appoint other employees easily,” he added.

The cabinet secretary informed that the premier asked to develop a mechanism to accelerate the recruitment process.

He said cabinet secretary, finance secretary, public administration secretary and secretary to the prime minister’s office would find out the solution to accelerating the process.

“The meeting also discussed about the progress of implementing the cabinet decisions. It was informed that around 51.35% decisions of the present government was implemented within its three months.

A total 19 decisions out of total 37 of the present cabinet have been implemented,” he added.
