The Narayanganj district administration has revoked the licences of all 11 weapons belonging to Nur Hossain and his associates.
The Narayanganj Awami League leader is among the prime suspects in the abduction and murder of Councillor Nazrul Islam and six others.
Deputy Commissioner Anisur Rahman Mia told reporters on Monday that police had been asked to seize the arms immediately.
On Saturday, police raided Hossain’s home, detaining 12 men and seizing a microbus. They could not find Hossain though.
Nur Hossain and his associates obtained 11 arms licences in the past two years. Nazrul’s father-in-law Shahidul Islam listed them for the media on Saturday.
According to list, the weapons include seven shotguns, two pistols, a rifle and a revolver. The rifle and a shotgun was licenced in 2012 and the rest in 2013.
All these licences were approved by former Narayanganj deputy commissioner Manoj Kanti Baral. He was shunted out immediately after the murders.
Ariful Haque Hassan, president of a local van owners’ association and known to be a close associate of Hossain’s, also has licences for two weapons.
