Nizami verdict: Moncho declares fresh programme

If the verdict fails to meet the demands of the people, tougher programmes will be declared, says Imran H Sarker

Gonojagoron Moncho has declared to stage a sit-in programme ahead of the verdict in the war crimes case against Jamaat-e-Islami leader Motiur Rahman Nizami.

The sit-in will start at Shahbagh around 10am and will continue until the verdict is delivered.

Emran H Sarkar, leader of a Moncho faction, made the announcement at a press conference at Projonmo Chottor of Shahbagh in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.

Demanding highest punishment for the accused war criminal, Imran H Sarker said: “We will declare a fresh programme after the verdict. If the verdict fails to meet the demands of the people, tougher programmes will be declared.”

According to the spokesperson, the Moncho activists will start a road march to press home their six-point demand. The road march will start from Shabagh on October 30 and will end in Tetulia on November 2.

During the period, they will address street rallies in Jhenaidah, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Kushtia, Ishwardi, Rajshahi, Nowgaon, Joydebpur, Nilphamari and Panchagarh.
