At least nine people, including a schoolboy and a night guard, were killed in separate incidents across the country yesterday, according to local police and district correspondents.

Police recovered the body of teenage boy from a sand field near Rahman Nagar Project in the capital’s Uttar Khan area early yesterday, more than a week after he was reported missing.

The victim was identified as Imran Hossain, 17, a class nine student of Imarat Hossain Ideal High School.

Maizuddin, Imran’s brother, said Imran went out of his house on March 13 after getting a call from a friend. He had been missing since, and the family filed a general diary with the local police on March 16.

Nizamuddin, sub-inspector of Uttar Khan police station, said Imran was likely strangled to death and later buried in the area.

The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy and a murder case was filed.

In another incident in the capital, a man was allegedly killed by relatives following a dispute over building a house at Sikdar Bari slum in Abdullahpur Beribadh area.

The victim, Ismail Khondokar, 65, came from Shibpur in Narshingdi district.

Salahuddin, sub-inspector of Uttara East police station, said Islmail’s relative, Nurunnahar, started filling up a vacant piece of land near the slum with mud to build a house.

This led to an altercation between Nurunnahar and Ismail, as the latter also had plans to build a house there.  At one point, Nurunnahar, along with her son, Noab Ali, and his wife, Layla Begum, started beating up Ismail, leaving him critically injured. Ismail died on the way to hospital.

In Brahmanbaria, a night guard was stabbed to death during the night in the town’s court area. The victim was identified as Mangol Miah, 40, of Nabinagar upazila.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Officer in charge of Sadar police station, Abdur Rob, said they were investigating the case.

In Barisal, police found the body of a missing vegetable trader after two days from Uttar Char Dakatia area of the city, said Tarikul Islam, sub inspector of Muladi police station. The victim, Abdur Rahman Bepari, 35, of Bhonga area under Kazirhut police station in Muladi upazila, had been missing since Thursday.

In Comilla, a farmer was killed in a clash with rivals at Homna upazila.

Aslam Shikdar, officer in charge Homna police station, said the victim, Tara Mia, got into a fight with some local residents and died as a result. The body was sent to Comilla Hospital for autopsy.

In Narayanganj, police retrieved the bodies of 2 young men from local ponds.

One of the victims, Shoeb Hossain, 22, of Farazikanda, had gone missing after leaving his house on Wednesday, his uncle, Neamat said. Shoeb’s body was later recovered from a pond near Kashipur Al Hossain Market.

Police also found the body of Shiplu Bepari, 28, of West Dewobhog, from a pond in Fatullah Nagbari area.

Meanwhile, Rakibul Islam, a local businessman, was stabbed to death reportedly by some drug addicts at Nur Mosque area of the city.

His father, Anowar Hossain, alleged that two drug addicts, Razu and Saju, might have killed him,” Anowar said.

Furhtermore, police in Sonargaon recoverd the decomposed body of an unidentified man, aged around 30, officer Riazul Haque said.
