‘I would bring Nur back, if I had power’

Shamim Osman, MP from Narayanganj 4 constituency, said he would bring Nur Hossian, the prime accused in the Narayanganj seven-murder case, back into the country from India, if he had the power.

The ruling party leader made the comment while talking to journalists after facing questionnaires from the high-powered probe body over the seven-murder incident at the office of Shahjahan Ali Mollah, head of the probe body, at the Bangladesh Secretariat in the capital on Tuesday afternoon.

He said: “Everybody is claiming that Nur was my follower and that he killed the seven people on my order. But, nobody has the proof.”

“The person, who leaked the phone conversation between me and Nur, must be a member of the law enforcing agency. So, I can say they were fully aware of Nur’s whereabouts. My question is: despite knowing Nur’s position, why did they fail to arrest him?”

Denying his alleged involvement with Nur’s escape, he said: “I would bring Nur back tomorrow, if I had the power.”

Replying to a query, he said: “The probe team agreed with me that I deserve appreciation for my assumption on the seven-murder incident. I told everyone that the law enforcing agency members were involved in the abduction within an hour of the incident. However, I did not tell anything about the killing.”

“I have met Nazrul’s wife and father-in-law and told them the truth and also informed the higher authorities of the local administration about my estimation.”

He said he has made some suggestions before the probe team during the talk.

He also claimed that his advice would help the probe body to unveil the actual mystery behind the killings.
