Gunman killed in Sholakia is NSU student: police

The attacker, who was killed after a gunfight with police at a checkpoint near Sholakia Eid congregation, has been identified as Abir Rahman.

Syed Abu Sayem, the additional police super of Kishoreganj district, told New Age on Friday day as Abir is a BBA student of North South University and the son of Sirajul Islam from Comilla’s Debidwar upazila.

At least three people were killed as gunmen attacked a police checkpoint near Sholakia Eid congregation, the largest in Bangladesh, on Thursday morning.

Police also killed a gunman during the deadly gunfight that lasted for nearly an hour about 100 yards away from the traditional Eid congregation under Kishoreganj district.

Police arrested seven suspects in connection with Thursday’s terrorist attack.
