Five to die for killing journalist Aftab Ahamed

The Speedy Trial tribunal-4 on Tuesday awarded death sentence for five convicts and seven-year jail for another in connection with a murder case of photojournalist Aftab Ahamed in 2013.

The tribunal judge Abdur mannan Sarkar passed the order this morning after concluding the hearing of both sides.

The death raw convicts are Aftab’s driver Humayun Kabir Molla, Billal Hossain Kislu, Habib Hawladar, Md Raju Munshi, Md Rasel.

Sabuj Khan, a security guard of Aftab’s house, was also awarded imprisonment for seven-years.

Ehushe Padak winning photojournalist Aftab Ahmed worked for the Daily Ittefaq for long.

Aftab Ahmed, 80, was killed at his house in the capital’s Rampura on December 25, 2013.

Later victim’s daughter filed a case with Rampura police station over the matter.
