City hotel fire kills 2

 Two people were killed when a fire broke out at a residential hotel at Bangshal in the old part of the city early Friday.

The deceased were identified as Saijuddin, 35, a resident of Lutfur Rahman Lane of Old Dhaka, and Sultan, 55.

Fire Service sources said the fire originated at about 3:24am inside ‘Bangladesh Muslim Abasik Hotel’ located on the 1st floor of a two-storey semi-pucca establishment at 148 Siddique Bazar under Bangshal police station.

On information, four firefighting units went to the spot and doused the flame at about 6:50am, said Duty Officer Nazma Akhter of Fire Service Control Room.

She said two boarders –– Sultan and Saijuddin –– were burnt to death in the fire incident. The reason behind the fire could not be ascertained immediately, she added.

The bodies were sent to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
