CDA chairman, flyover project director sued

The November 25 photo shows collapsed girders of an under-construction flyover that claimed lives of at least 12 people at Baharddarhat in Chittagong. 

A case was filed on Thursday against six people including the chairman of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) and director of Bahaddarhat flyover project in Chittagong over the flyover tragedy.

Twelve people were killed and 50 injured after three girders fell on a makeshift kitchen market at the construction site of the flyover on November 24.

Advocate Jadob Chandra Shil, general secretary of Bangladesh Nagorik Odhiker Foundation, filed the case with the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in Chittagong, Md Mayeenuddin, assistant commissioner (prosecution) of Chittagong, told The Daily Star.

Magistrate Nur-E-Alam Bhuiyan directed the office-in-charge of Chadgaon Police Station to investigate the incident.
