Supreme Court lawyer Tuhin Malik on Saturday said it will be ‘tantamount to treason’ for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina if she holds a cabinet meeting with the ministers and state ministers who have already resigned.
“It’s tantamount to treason when the ministers after submitting the resignation in public continuing to hold their respective offices, and it’ll also be tantamount to treason if the Prime Minister sits with these ministers in a cabinet meeting tomorrow,” he said.
He was addressing a discussion organised by Pro-People Movement (PPM) at the Jatiya Press Club.
Earlier, on November 13, Tuhin Malik served legal notices on 49 ministers and state ministers asking them to refrain from discharging their respective duties from Thursday as they have already ‘resigned’.
Presided over by PPM chairman CM Tofail Sami, the discussion was also addressed by former minister Nazmul Huda, former Election Commissioner Brig Gen (retd) Sakhawat Hossain and Dhaka University professor Asif Nazrul.
