The BNP has spent more than its income for three consecutive years.

BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi submitted the party’s income and expenditure report to the Election Commission on Thursday.

The party spent Tk1,98,47,171 in 2021 against an income of Tk84,12,444.

In 2020 the BNP earned Tk1.22 crore, while spending Tk1.74 crore.

Its income in 2019 was Tk87.52 lakh and its expenses amounted to Tk2.66 crore.

The income of the party comes from subscriptions of party members, sales of nomination forms, donations and interests from banks. It is then spent on staff salaries, bonuses, utility bills, assistance to injured leaders and workers, and various other sectors.

In 2018, when the last national election was held, the BNP earned Tk9.86 crore and spent Tk3.73 crore, resulting in a surplus of Tk6.13 crore.
