Bangladesh, chasing 248 for victory, were in dire straits at 66 for eight after 21 overs in their second ODI against West Indies on Friday.
Abdur Razzak (0) and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (1) were struggling to save the series on a slower pitch at the St George’s National Cricket Stadium.
Earlier, Chris Gayle and Darren Bravo scored half centuries as West Indies accumulated 247 in Grenada.
The visitors, who have been struggling to end an 11-match losing streak this year, invited the Caribbeans to bat first after winning the toss on a slow pitch on Friday.
The hosts got off to a rather shaky start as they lost opener Kirk Edwards with the score on 5.
Edward was gone for naught as Al-Amin Hossain’s short delivery cut in to hit the top of off-stump in the second over.
Bravo then paired with Gayle to build an 88-run partnership that lasted 19.2 overs before the latter was caught at deep midwicket off a Mahmudullah delivery.
Gayle smashed five sixes and three fours on the way to his 58 off 67.
Sohag Gazi and Al-Amin then sent back Bravo (53) and Denesh Ramdin (34) respectively in quick succession.
But Lendl Simmons (40) and Kieron Pollard (26) fired a 43-ball-51 partnership for the fifth wicket to set the tourists a challenging target.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was the best bowler for the hosts picking up three for 39.
The Caribbeans won the first ODI by three wickets.
