Asiatic Society delegation makes courtesy call on President

 

A delegation of Bangladesh Asiatic Society, led by its president Prof. Nazrul Islam, made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Thursday .

The delegation also included Prof. Mahfuza Khanom, Prof. Ahmed A Jamal and Prof. AKM Golam Rabbani.

During the meeting, the delegation members briefed the President about the activities of the 60-year-old Asiatic Society.

They informed that the Society’s publications include 24 volumes of Banglapedia, 56 volumes on flora and fauna, and a cultural survey of Bangladesh.

The delegation also informed the President that the society, with 2000 members, is appreciated as a well known organization across the globe.

President Abdul Hamid expressed satisfaction over the progress made the Asiatic Society which has been contributing largely to enrich the knowledge of all concerned.

He urged the society to continue to make efforts for achieving its objectives.

The delegation presented a set of publications of the Bangladesh Asiatic Society to the President.

Secretaries concerned to the President Office were present.
