The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to file a case against four people, including three engineers of Dhaka City Corporation, for constructing a six-storey building at Dayaganj Sweeper Colony with substandard construction materials that later led to collapse of the building.

The Commission at its regular meeting on Tuesday approved the proposal of filing the case, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.

The case will be filed against ABM Atiqullah, owner of M/S Atiq Construction; Nirmal Chandra Dey, deputy assistant engineer of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC); M Mujibur Rahman, former DCC assistant engineer; and Engr Mesbahul Karim, superintending engineer of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

According to the allegation, ABM Atiqullah in association with the DCC engineers constructed a building of DCC with substandard construction materials at Dayaganj Sweeper Colony in 2007.

Later, on May 25, 2007, the building collapsed causing loss of about Tk 58 lakh in public money.

ACC launched a probe into the graft allegation in January 2013 and appointed its deputy assistant director AKM Fazle Hossain as inquiry officer.

The case will be filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act 1947.
