Hitting out at Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu for his reported remark that Khaleda must be removed from earth, BNP leader Rizvi Ahmed on Monday said the minister has taken the godfather’s role just to appease the ruling party.
“Inu is one of those implementers of the government’s programme to obliterate democracy. The Information Minister himself has now taken the role of godfather to appease the ruling Awami League, which had been traumatised with armed political activities of JSD during 72-75,” he said.
Rizvi, a joint secretary general of BNP, came up with the remarks while addressing a press briefing at BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.
He alleged the minister while addressing a programme of the Hindu Community at Shmibagh threatened to remove Khaleda Zia from earth.
Reacting to the remarks, Rizvi said Inu has made such remarks in a bid to mislead people and get the Prime Minister’s blessings. “The Minister’s such remark is not unusual. The ruling party leaders themselves in parliament criticised the JSD for its militant role during 72-75. So, Inu is now embarrassed being a partner of the ruling party coalition.”
Referring to JSD leaders’ claim that nearly 20,000 of their leaders and activists had been killed by Awami League after the liberation, the BNP leader said the Information Minister has set an example that how much one can stoop driven by greed crossing the blood sacrificed his party leaders and activists only for becoming a minister.
“Those who can sell the sacrifices of 20,000 party men only to gain self-interest driven by greed how they will judge the value of independence, democracy and even people,” the BNP leader said.
Rizvi also criticised the ruling party leaders for what he said making unguarded and derogatory remarks against BNP founder Zaiur Rahman and his family members.
“The ruling party leaders don’t care about civilised politics. It seems they get affected with hysteria when they hear the names of Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman.”
