Visiting India beat Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the rain-interrupted 1st match of the three-match ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.
The visiting side scored 153 for three in 24.5 overs to seal the curtailed-over match.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first and posted a challenging total of 272 for 9 in stipulated 50 overs.
The Tigers faced an early batting collapse losing two top order batsmen — opener Tamim Iqbal (0) and Mominul Haque (6) — for 35 runs in 10.2 overs.
However, they recovered the jolt in the third wicket stand as skipper Mushfiqur Rahim pairing with Anamul Haque (44) made 52 runs in 12.1 overs to carry the team total to 87 for 3 in 22.1 overs.
In the fourth wicket stand, Mushfiqur partnering with all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan contributed 75 runs in 12 overs before Mushfiqur was caught by Ajinkya Rahane off a Parvez Rasool ball when the scoreboard was showing 134/5 in 41.1 overs.
Mushfiqur scored 59 runs off 63 balls with three fours and three sixes while Shakib Al Hasan scored 52 runs off 58 balls with four fours and a six.
Mahmudullah (41), Nasir Hossain (22), Mashrafe Mortaza (18) and Abdur Razzak (16) were the other notable scorers for Bangladesh.
Umesh Yadav grabbed three wickets for 48 runs, Amit Mishra and Parvez Rasool took two wickets each for 55 and 60 runs respectively while Suresh Raina and Akshar Patel took one wicket apiece.
Chasing 273 runs, India opened the innings and scored 100 runs for 1 in 16.4 overs before heavy downpour forced to stop the match at 6:26pm.
When the match resumed at 9:10pm, India required another 50 runs from 10.2 overs, setting their target to 150 from 26 overs.
Ajinkya Rahane scored 64 runs off 70 balls with five fours and two sixes and was adjudged man of the match.
Robin Uthappa scored 50 runs while Ambati Rayudu and skipper Suresh Raina scored unbeaten 16 and 15 runs respectively.
Shakib Al Hasan grabbed two wickets for 27 runs while Mashrafe Mortaza took another wicket for 25 runs.
