Detectives in separate drives detained six alleged drug peddlers with different drugs including heroin from different areas in the capital on Thursday night.
The six detainees are: Kabir Hossain, Masum Billah, Bachchu Mia, Md Hazrat, Aminul Islam and Md Harun-or-Rashid, said Masudur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), at a press conference at the DMP media centre around 11:00am.
Based on secret information police raided a Moghbazar hotel and nabbed Kabir and Masum around 7:30pm. They also also seized 2,000 pieces of yaba worth Tk 6 lakhs from their possession, Masudur said.
Following information given by Kabir, the DB team later seized a truck before Ananda Community Centre in Paltan and held Bachchu and Hazrat with 4,000 bottles of Phensidyl around 11:30pm.
In a separate drive, police nabbed Aminul and Harun with 500 grams of heroin worth Tk 50 lakh from the capital’s Boubazar area around 10:30pm, the police official said.
Three separate cases were filed in this connection.
