Khaled Masud Pilot, after Khaled Mahmud Sujon and Mohammad Rafique, has denied allegation of introducing bookies to Dhaka Gladiators skipper Mohammad Ashraful.
The 37-year-old former Test captain and wicket-keeper also demanded proper investigation into the match-fixing scandal.
The allegation that Sujon, Rafique and Pilot introduced an Indian bookie to Mohammad Ashraful in 2004 came to light in recent media reports.
Pilot denied the allegation at a press conference on Saturday stating, “The allegation is totally baseless. Ashraful should meet the board (BCB) quickly over the allegation. I think he has fallen into a trap.”
“Introducing someone to a player is very normal. But it’s not possible to know whether the introduced man is a bookie or not,” Pilot said.
“Ashraful needed to inform the board immediately if the introduced man had proved to be a bookie later,” he added.
