69 Covid-19 deaths reported in 24 hours; 1,359 infected

Sixty-nine people have died from Covid-19 in 24 hours (till 8am today), according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The total number of deaths has now reached 11,579 and the death rate stands at 1.52 percent.

At least 1,359 new infections were recorded in the meantime, taking the total number of people infected to 7,61,943, added the release.

The current positivity rate is 9.60 percent while the total positivity rate stands at 13.86 percent.

A total of 14,158 samples were tested across the country in 24 hours (till 8am today).

At least 2,657 Covid-19 patients have recovered during the period.

The total number of recoveries now stands at 6,87,328 and the recovery rate at 90.21 percent.

Among the 69 deceased, 44 were men and 25 were women. Of them, one was between 0-10 years old; one was within 11-20; two were within 21-30; three were within 31-40; seven between 41-50; 11 within 51-60; and 44 were above 60 years old, added the release.
