A protest rally accompanied by a Baul performance was held at Pubali Intersection in the city demanding the immediate arrest of the killers of Comilla Victoria College student Sohagi Jahan Tonu.

Ganajagaran Mancha Comilla and Achin Pakhi Baul Gosthi jointly arranged the programme marking six-month of Tonu’s murder, and demanding trial of the killers, reports UNB news agency.

Killers of the Tonu murder have not been identified as yet, despite DNA evidence suggesting she was raped by up to three men before being murdered.

Hundreds of people including Tonu’s mother Anwara Begum and her brother Anwar Hossain Rubel were present at the commemoration today.

Sohagi Jahan Tonu, 19, a second year history student of Victoria College and a member of Victoria College Theatre, went missing on the evening of 20 March, just hours after she had gone out of her house at Comilla Mainamati Cantonment for private tuition.

Later, Tonu’s father Yar Hossain found his daughter lying senseless with severe injuries in her body in a bush adjacent to their house. She was then whisked off to Combined Military Hospital where doctors declared her dead.
