42 Covid-19 deaths for the second consecutive day

Forty-two people have died with coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.

The death toll now stands at 930 and the death rate at 1.36 percent, Dr Nasima Sultana, additional director general (administration) of DGHS, said during a briefing.

Two thousand seven hundred and thirty-five people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of infected has reached 68,504.

A total of 12,944 samples were tested in 50 labs across the country in the last 24 hours, Dr Nasima said.

Meanwhile, 657 Covid-19 patients have recovered since yesterday, taking the total number of recoveries to 14,507 and the recovery rate to 21.25 percent, the DGHS official added.

Among the deceased, 33 were male and nine female, she said adding that 25 were from Dhaka, eight from Chattogram, one from Sylhet, one from Rajshahi, two from Khulna, one from Rangpur, two from Barishal and the other two were from Mymensingh division.

Of them, one was between 11-20 years old, three between 21-30, one between 31-40, seven within 41-50, 10 between 51-60, 12 between 61-70, four were 71-80, two within 81-90 and another two were 91-100 years old, Dr Nasima also said.
