20 youths held with fake visas

Immigration police arrested 20 youths at Shahjalal International Airport Monday morning for trying to go to Thailand and Malaysia with fake and illegal visas.

According to immigration authorities, five of them were trying to go to Thailand with fake visas at around 5:00am by a flight of Thai Airways.

They are identified as Nurul Alam, Jahangir Alam, Billal Hossain, Osman Gani and Mamun Hossain.

Besides, 15 others were arrested when they were on way to Malaysia via Laos by a flight of Bangladesh Biman, said the immigration sources.

They are Selim Reza, Ashiqul Islam, Ali Ahmed, Saddam Hossain, Mizanur Rahman, Nur Mohammad, Arafat Ali, Iqramul Hossain, Abdus Salam, Mafizur Rahman, Shah Alam, Abdul Jalil, Selim Hossain, Mohobbat Ali and Taiyob Ali.

According to sources, all the 20 youths aged between 20 and 30 years of old had been trying to go abroad with the helps of brokers. The youth were ultimately cheated by the brokers despite they paid Tk 2 to 3 lakh each.

Immigration officials said all the detainees were sent to the office of the Special Branch to interrogate them and identify the brokers who had attempted to send the youths abroad.
