Two of Dinajpur triplets named after the Padma Bridge have died of illness. “Padma” and “Setu” both passed away leaving “Swapno” alone.

Six days after birth, Padma passed away while Setu dealth with the same fate on the following night.

On June 18, the triplets were born to their parents Sadina Begum and Jahidul Islam from Krishtabati village in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur.

The triplets were born through normal delivery at a community hospital in Birampur municipality.

A grieving Jahidul told UNB that, “after their delivery, doctors claimed all three of them were in good health and specialist physicians did medical tests on them.”

Jahidul and Sadina, both garment factory workers in Gazipur, named their daughters after the Padma Bridge to show love to the much-hyped structure and commemorate the event of its inauguration earlier last month.

The couple also has an 11-year-old daughter.

Torn by the deaths of two children within 24 hours, they are now struggling to keep alive Swapno, last of the triplet sisters.
