Jamaat-Shibir activists exploded 19 crude bombs in Laxmipur and Bogra districts during the today’s (Wednesday) countrywide daylong hartal called by Jamaat-e-Islami.
In Laxmipur, Jamaat activists exploded 10 crude bombs in the district town during the hartal hours.
Witnesses said activists of Jamaat and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir blocked the Laxmipur-Ramgati road at Mia intersection and on the Raipur-Laxmipur road in Dalal Bazar area by placing logs in the morning.
Later, they brought out separate processions from which they blasted 10 crude bombs.
Shibir men vandalised two CNG-run auto-rickshaws in Raipur bus stand area at about 7.00am.
In Bogra, Shibir men blasted nine crude bombs at Khandar in the district town at about 10.30am as police fired 25 rounds of rubber bullet to disperse their procession in the area.
The Islamist party called the hartal after the International Crimes Tribunal-2 declared that it would pronounce the verdict today against Jamaat secretary general and war crimes accused Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid.
