Two luxurious ships inaugurated in Dhaka-Barisal route

Two luxury have been introduced in the Dhaka-Barisal river route on Tuesday to carry passengers during the day in order to get rid of the daily suffering.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan inaugurated the ships named MV Green Line-2 and MV Green Line-3 – at Lalkoti Ghat Special Terminal near Sadarghat Launch Terminal of Dhaka.

The two ships will carry passengers up and down the river route two times a day from September 15.

One ship will leave Dhaka for Barisal while another ship will ply towards Dhaka from Barisal at the same time of the day.

Minister Shajahan Khan said many plans have been taken to improve the river routes and the navigability has been ensured in many rivers. He added that new launches are going to be introduced to ensure developed services.

The newly introduced air conditioned ships will leave Dhaka and Barisal at 7:20 am every morning, and make the return journey at 2pm every day. Tickets of the ships will be collected from all Green Line counters as well as Dhaka Sadarghat and Barisal Special Terminal. Tickets will also be available online.

The capacity of each ship is 600 passengers. The fare for business class is Tk 1,000 and economy class seats will cost Tk 700.

Segufta Yasmin Emili MP of Munshiganj-2 and Jebunnesa Afroz MP of Barisal-5 were present at the inaugural session.
