A leader of Amra Muktijoddhar Santan filed a defamation case with a Comilla court against Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia seeking TK 1 crore compensation for her libellous remarks against the prime minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy.
Senior judicial magistrate Fahad bin Amin took the case into its cognizance and asked Comilla district information officer to submit report by June 2.
Md Shariful Alam Chowdhury, convener of Muradnagar unit Amra Muktijoddhar Santan, filed the case with the Comilla Cognizance Court 8.
The plaintiff’s lawyer, Tanvir Ahmed Foysal, said his client filed the case as BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia delivered slanderous comments against Sajeeb Wazed Joy at a workers’ rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka on May 1.
The comments also defamed image of Shariful Alam Chowdhury, the lawyer said.
