Sons, grandchildren greet Khaleda

Khaleda

Zaima, Zafia and Zahia called from abroad to greet her saying, “Happy Birthday dadu”.

“They all called madam during the first hours of the day. Zaima from London and Zafia and Zahia from Bangkok called to wish her a happy birthday.”

Zaima’s parents Tarique Rahman and Jobaida Rahman and Arafat Rahman Coco and Tabassum Rahman Shithi, parents of Zahia and Zafia, have also greeted Khaleda Zia.

Khaleda’s sons Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Coco left the county in 2008 for medical treatment abroad. They have not returned since. Coco is currently a fugitive convicted in a money laundering case.

Press Secretary to the BNP Chairperson Maruf Kamal Khan said she will privately celebrate her birthday like every year.

A prayer session was held at her Gulshan residence on Thursday morning. Her relatives came to her house to wish her happy birthday.

Since 1991, when she first became Prime Minister, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been celebrating 15th August as her ‘official birthday’ and since then has been widely criticised for doing that on a day the nation’s founder Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated with much of his family by disgruntled military officers, on Aug 15 of 1975.
