Some 276,000 govt posts now vacant: LGRD Minister

 

Some 276,000 government posts are now lying vacant against over 1,405,000 such posts across the country, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam told Parliament on Monday.

Replying to a scripted question of ruling Awami League MP Apu Ukil (Women Seat 2), he said a process is underway to fill up the vacant posts.

The minister informed the House that according to the Public Administration Ministry, there are 1,405,524 government posts in the country. Of the posts, 275,964 are now vacant.

Replying to another query from Baby Moudud (Women Seat 50), he said the Public Service Commission so far suggested appointment of three physically challenged BCS candidates since a circulation was issued on January 12 last year keeping provision of one percent reserved quota for the physically challenged persons.

Of the three, two candidates are from the 31st BCS exam and the other is from the 32nd BCS exam, Syed Ashraf added.
