Jatiya Party MP of Narayanganj Salim Osman speaks at a news conference at Narayanganj Club on Thursday.

Jatiya Party MP of Narayanganj Salim Osman on Thursday said he would not offer apology over publicly humiliating Shyamal Kanti Bhakta, the headmaster of Piyar Sattar Latif High School, for ‘hurting religious sentiment’.
Salim made the vow at a news conference at Narayanganj Club.
‘To whom would I offer apology? The teacher who made derogatory remarks about Allah?’ he said. But he claimed that he was ashamed at sorry before the society who had watched a video and misunderstood him.
Salim also questioned the probe of education ministry which did not find evidence of hurting religious sentiment by Shyamal. ‘I am not insane. I have evidence of his hurting religious sentiment. And I will make them public,’ he claimed.
He also claimed that he did not insult the teacher nor took the decision of sacking him from school. Salim claimed the teacher had opted for going up and down holding ears as punishment.
Locals in presence of Salim Osman made Shyamal Kanti Bhakta to go up and down holding his ears on May 13 after mob beating.
The locals were mobilised through an announcement from a local mosque that Shyamal made ‘offensive comments about religion’ while meting out corporal punishment to a student of the school on May 8.
A video clip of incident went viral in social media and drew widespread criticism.
