Rajdhani Unyan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) has announced Mizan Tower risky, hours after the second explosion in the12-storey capital high-rise.
The Rajuk authorities have also imposed ban on the entrance by any of the dwellers of the building while residents of the adjacent buildings have also been asked to remain alert.
Meanwhile, Rajuk authorities formed a five-member committee headed by a member (Development and Planning) to assess the structural condition of the building.
Experts of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) have been requested to determine the future steps regarding the building, said Abdul Mannan, a member (Planning) of the Rajuk.
Talking to the Dhaka Tribune, Abdul Mannan said the report of the Rajuk committee will decide whether the residents of the building would be allowed to reside in it.
Both the Rajuk Committee and BUET experts would start their tasks from Friday, he said.
He also said: “We have asked the police not to allow anybody to enter the building as further explosion may take place anytime.”
He said the second explosion took place while the members of the Titas Gas authorities had been removing the stagnant gas from the sewerage line around 6pm.
“The explosions had been taking place as the building authorities did not clean the sewerage lines for a long time,” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the building rocked after an explosion occurred due to gas pipe leak, sending the people living in it into panic.
Later, firefighters evacuated the building and cut the power and gas supply.
