PM seeks more Qatari investment in Bangladesh

 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday requested Qatar to invest more in Bangladesh and also take more manpower from the country for mutual benefit of the people of the two countries.

 

The Prime Minister made the request when newly appointed Ambassador of Qatar to Bangladesh Abdullah Abdul Aziz M Al-Mana paid a courtesy call on her at her office.

 

Prime Minister’s special assistant Mahbubul Hoque Shakil briefed the reporters after the meeting.

 

During the meeting, Ambassador Al-Mana congratulated Sheikh Hasina on behalf of the government and people of Qatar on her election as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh for the third time.

 

The Prime Minister mentioned that her government has ensured business and investment friendly environment in the country, and Qatar could take the opportunity for the mutual benefit of the two peoples.

 

About the availability of huge manpower in the country, she said that the government expects more initiatives of the governments of the brotherly Muslim countries including Qatar in importing manpower from Bangladesh.

 

Emphasising on sharing of experience on education and health sectors between the two countries, Sheikh Hasina said this would give more benefit to the people of both the countries.

 

The PM expressed her gratitude to the government and people of Qatar for the hospitality extended during her visit to the country in her previous term (2008-13). “An excellent friendly relation exists between the two countries,” she said.

 

Sheikh Hasina also put emphasis on further strengthening of the ties among the Muslim countries and on more investment in Bangladesh from the Muslim countries.

 

Ambassador Abdullah Al-Mana said that his government is always keen to further strengthen the existing friendly relations with Bangladesh, a brotherly Muslim country.

 

He said that Qatar would work sincerely to implement the agreements and treaties that had been signed between the two friendly countries.

 

The Ambassador, on behalf of the Qatar government, invited the Prime Minister, to visit Qatar.

 

Sheikh Hasina thanked the government of Qatar for the invitation and said she would visit the country at a suitable time.

 

Ambassador at-Large M Ziauddin, Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikder, PMO Secretary M Abul Kalam Azad and PM’s Deputy Press Secretary Bijan Lal Dev were, among others, present.
