US President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle on Wednesday greeted Muslims across the globe on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha.

Obama also conveyed his greetings to those performing the Hajj pilgrimage this year, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

“As our Muslim neighbours and friends gather for Eid celebrations, Muslim Americans are among the millions of pilgrims joining one of the world’s largest and most diverse gatherings,” said Obama.

He said the Eid celebrations serve as a reminder that no matter one’s tribe or sect, race or religion, gender or age, we are equals in humanity.

“On behalf of the American people, we extend our warmest greetings during this holiday. Eid Mubarak,” he said.

Muslims across the Arab world, United States, Canada and Europe are celebrating Eid-ul-Azha on Saturday.

Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on Monday in Bangladesh along with the countries of the Indian sub-continent.
