Muggers shoot 3, loot Tk 30 lakh in city

Muggers took away Tk 30 lakh after injuring three people, including two officials of a real estate company, from Kalyanpur under Mirpur police station in the city on Tuesday.

 

The injured were identified as Shamsur Rahman, 40, and Akter Hossain, 35, two officers of real estate company ‘Multi Plan’, and Jahangir, a client of the company.

 

Police said Shamsur Rahman and Akter Hossain went to Mirpur by a private car from their Panthapath head office to bring Jahangir in the morning. One Ansar man was accompanying them as a security guard.

 

Jahangir went to the Darus Salam branch of Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd along with Tk 10 lakh and withdrew another amount of Tk 20 lakh from the bank to buy a flat from the real estate company.

 

Later, he along with the ‘Multi Plan’ officials was going to Panthapath by the car at noon.

 

When the car reached BRTC Bus Depot at Kalyanpur at about 1:30pm, five muggers riding on two motorbikes intercepted it.

 

The hoodlums fired several gunshots, took away the money and fled the scene, said Inspector (Investigation) Mainul Islam of Mirpur police station.

 

He said Jahangir, Shamsur Rahman and Akter Hossain sustained bullet injuries. They were rushed to different hospitals.
