Jamaat ameer mourns death of Khamenei, calls for immediate de-escalation

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on today expressed deep sorrow over the killing of Iran’s Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in strikes by Israel and the United States.

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. I am deeply saddened by the news of the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei,” he wrote in a post from his verified Facebook page at 11:25am.

He extended heartfelt condolences to the people of Iran and prayed that Almighty may be grant them patience and strength in their grief.

The Jamaat ameer said the current instability in the Middle East had already placed regional stability at serious risk, cautioning that any further military escalation would not only endanger one nation but could push the entire region towards a devastating conflict.

He added that attacks during the holy month of Ramadan would deeply hurt and anger ordinary people across the Muslim world and further threaten global peace.

Calling for immediate de-escalation, Shafiqur Rahman urged all concerned parties to halt military actions, exercise maximum restraint and prioritise diplomatic engagement.

“I call upon the United States, Israel, Iran, and all concerned parties to immediately halt military actions, exercise maximum restraint, and prioritise diplomatic engagement,” he wrote.

“Respect for international law, national sovereignty, and the protection of civilians must remain paramount,”he added.

The Jamaat leader also called on the United Nations and global leaders to act decisively and responsibly to safeguard world peace.
