Road communications between Dighinala of Khagrachari and other parts remain snapped as the Dighinala Bhumi Raksha Commitee enforced a blockade of the upazila for Monday protesting at police-army attack on Sunday’s march towards Babuchara.
The hill people under the banner of Dighinala Bhumi Raksha Committee have been demanding over the past few months that the government should not set up a battalion headquarter of Border Guard Bangladesh at Babuchara, evicting 21 indigenous families from their land.
Sunday’s march was arranged to press home the demand and it was obstructed by military and police triggering a clash at Karbaritila of Babuchara leaving at least 17 people injured.
No unexpected incident was taken place in Dighinala since morning but police and army were conducting raids at villages of hill people since Sunday night.
They also arrested 11 people from different villages including girl college student.
Dighinala police on Sunday night has filed a case against the hill people for injuring military personnel by throwing stones while they were on duty.
