Govt will provide high-speed internet for freelancers: Zunaid Palak

The government would provide special high-speed internet package for freelancers, Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister of posts, telecommunications and information technology, said at a conference on Tuesday.
Daffodil International Academy organised the conference in association with two freelancing companies of Bangladesh— Belancer and Transpay, at Krishibid Institution Auditorium in the capital.
Around 1000 freelancers of the country attended the conference.
The state minister said the government’s ICT division would sign an agreement with the internet service provider companies to provide the freelancers special internet packages.
Moreover, the ministry took up an `earn and pay’ project where new entrepreneur would get single digit loan, he said.
The state minister proposed that the World information Technology and Services should organise world ICT congress for providing training for half a million Bangladeshi freelancers.
Clyde Unno, former chairman of Accenture Japan, said Bangladeshi youths were competing with American and Japanese people in the globalised business sector and so, they should focus on their skills.
Santiago Gutierrez, chairman of World information Technology and Services, said they would organise an ICT congress in Bangladesh.
A total of 77 young entrepreneurs were awarded by the Daffodil International Academy for their contribution in software development, graphics design, mobile apps, online blogging, and content creation.
Bangladesh Computer Samity president AHM Mahfuzul Arif, Bangladesh Association of Call Center and Outsourcing president Ahmadul Hoq, and Daffodil International Academy executive director Muhammad Nuruzzaman also spoke at the programme, which was presided over by Sabur Khan, chairman of the Daffodil Group.
