DCCI seeks Sri Lankan investment in prospective sectors

Lankan minister for exploiting business potentials in Commonwealth nations

 

Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) President M Sabur Khan has invited the Sri Lankan investors to invest in Bangladesh in prospective sectors like agriculture, tourism, jute, and shipbuilding.

 

He also sought initiatives from both sides for enhancing the existing bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka during a meeting with Sri Lankan Investment Promotion Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena in the Commonwealth Business Forum in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Thursday.

 

They discussed various issues relating to bilateral trade and investment opportunities, said a media release received here on Friday.

 

The DCCI President informed the Sri Lankan Minister about the potential investment sectors of Bangladesh.

 

He also invited the Investment Promotion Minister of Sri Lanka to pay a visit to Bangladesh.

 

While discussing, the DCCI President said that Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are included in the Saarc countries and laid emphasis on strengthening trade relation among the Saarc countries.

 

Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena welcomed the DCCI President for coming in Sri Lanka with a business delegation.

 

He also underscored the importance of exploiting business potentials of commonwealth nations.

 

“In this globalised world we have to move together to face the economic challenges,” he said adding that Commonwealth nations have huge economic potentials and these opportunities will have to be explored.
