BNP-Jamaat violence costs small, medium industries Tk 7150cr: Amu

Some 4,254 private sector small and medium industries under the BSCIC across the country incurred loss of Tk 7150.25 crore due to the “destructive activities by the BNP-led 18-party alliance over the trial of the war criminals.”

Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu stated this in Parliament while responding to a starred question of M Israfil Alam (Naogon-6), which was raised by Abu Zahid (Habiganj-3).

Amu mentioned that the loss had accumulated as the production, marketing of the products and their transportation hampered severely due to what he said the destructive activities of the BNP-led 18 party alliance.

He alleged that the 18-party alliance was engaged in non-political, destructive and people-detached activities to resist the International Crimes Tribunal formed for the trial of the war criminals, its verdict and implementation.

The Industries Minister also mentioned that five state-run sugar mills have incurred a loss of Tk 1.28 crore due to the activities of the 18-party alliance.
