The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Thursday demanded judicial investigation into the BDR atrocities that killed 74 people, including 57 army officials, in BDR (now Border Guard Bangladesh) headquarters at Pilkhana in Dhaka in 2009.

BNP standing committee member Mahbubur Rahman said mystery behind the BDR carnage shoul be unveiled through judicial probe.

The BNP leader made these remarks while paying homage to the murdered army officials at Banani graveyard in the afternoon.

The former army chief told the newsmen 57 army officials were in killed in the killing seven years ago. This was a great loss for the country. The trial is taking too much time. However, a mystery remains regarding the conspirators and actual real murderers behind the incident.

BNP standing comittee member and former army official Hannan Shah said, everyone knows who were involved in the BDR mutiny. They were all invited by the prime minister on that day. One of them was even promoted, providing a boost for the mutineers, he added.
