Avijit killing: Senior FBI official now in city

A high official of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrived in Dhaka on Tuesday to help investigate the killing of blogger-writer Avijit Roy.

While talking to UNB, a high officer of Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police confirmed the arrival of the FBI official.

However, the DB officer, who preferred not to be named, could not say when the FBI officer landed in Dhaka.

Talking to reporters at his Minto Road office on Monday, Joint Commissioner of DB Monirul Islam said a high FBI official would arrive in the city very soon.

Earlier on March 4, a four-member FBI team arrived in Dhaka to assist the Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies to investigate the murder case. They are still in Dhaka.

All physical evidence of the incident have already been handed over to the FBI team for DNA test.

On February 26, Avijit Roy, founder of Mukta-Mona blog, was hacked to death and his wife Rafida Afrin Banya injured seriously as unidentified criminals stabbed them near TSC on the Dhaka University campus.
